Tbilisi

Firstly, visit the country’s capital- Tbilisi. Founded in 5th century, it hosted people from various countries and cultures throughout its history. As a result, currently, a 1.5 million populated city has the beautiful architectural monuments of various periods and styles, such as neoclassical, art nouveau, modern, to name a few. Once in Tbilisi, make sure to visit the old town and ride the funicular railway leading to Mount Mtatsminda. If you are interested in history, then you should consider visiting Mtskheta– the former capital and currently the religious center of the country. 20 km North from Tbilisi, it is one of the oldest cities in Georgia.Due to its historical significance it is preserved by Unesco as a world heritage site. Some of the most important Christian monuments in Georgia- Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Samtavro and Jvari Monasteries are situated there. Mtskheta is a significant spot worth a visit if you want to see some of the best examples of local Christian architecture.

Kazbegi

Formerly Kazbegi or as currently called- Stepantsminda– is another popular spot for travellers.  It is the center of Kazbegi district, which itself is renown for a variety of attractions for visitors. Not only one can go hiking or paragliding inKazbegi Mount, but it is also the third highest mountain in Georgia. Gergeti Trinity Church and Gergeti Glacier are also located in this district attracting those, who enjoy trekking. While the hike to the church is quiet accessible for most of the people, the one to the glacier is for more experienced trekkers. Whether you enjoy adventure tourism, or just want to enjoy some time resting in the nature, Kazbegi is a good spot offering many options for people of various preferences.

Since the country is bounded by the Black Sea, it will be a crime to miss spending a couple of days in the seashore. While there a variety of options for spending the holidays in the seashore, we will suggest to go to Batumi– the second largest city in Georgia and the capital of Adjara. Not only it is a significant sea port, but also a popular destination for tourists. On contrary to Tbilisi, Batumi has modern architecture- with recently built high-rise buildings. If visiting Batumi, check Europe square and Batumi boulevard, where you can ride a bike with the beautiful view of the sea.

Batumi Botanical garden

Only 9 km away from Batumi’s center is located Batumi Botanical garden– established in 1912. One of the most beautiful in the region and one of the largest in the former Soviet Union, the garden offers a unique selection of flora. Formerly cooperating with the Georgian Academy of Sciences, it is currently an independent institution. With 9 phytogeographic departments, the garden offers also various services, such as guide’s service, camping, purchase of decorative plants etc.
