Did you know that the market for luxury watches has only steadily grown over nearly every year of the past decade? By all measures, it might seem as though classic wristwatches should be on the decline, given how easily we can check the time on any given smart device around us.
However, it appears that with each passing year, a nice watch becomes all the more integral of a fashion statement.
As we begin to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, an exciting new slate of watches has hit the market with which we can treat ourselves or our loved ones. Here is a brief list of 2021’s hottest new watches.
1. Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711
The 5711 is widely known as Patek’s most iconic model. Alas, with this final design, 2021 is the year that this steely classic is finally being retired. To commemorate one of the all-time hottest watches, the dial is instead a stylish pale green instead of its trademark blue.
As if it isn’t already hard enough to get your hands on, it also comes in rose gold or lined with diamonds.
2. Omega Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold
In yet another nod to a classic, Omega has revamped one of its best watches: its trademark Seamaster first popularized in the 1950s and 1960s. It is designed with a salt-resistant bronze that will stay stylish no matter the elements. This time, gold and copper are added to the mix so the metal can hold a nice, distinguished color as it ages.
3. Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Reverso
Of all 2021 watches, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Reverso is handily the most complex and ambitious. It is the first wristwatch ever to have four faces. Among its absurd number of features, it has a calendar, a minute repeater, and a lunar cycle, and must be seen to be believed.
4. Bulgari Octo Perpetual Calendar
At 5.8 millimeters thick, Bulgari has once again broken the world record for the thinnest watch with this new design. Within so little space, it manages to display a complete Gregorian calendar that can account for the day, the month, and even leap years. It is available in both titanium and platinum.
You can also find watches with a variety of calendar features by taking a look through this large collection of Tissot watches.
5. Panerai’s Submersible ELab-ID Watches
Without a doubt the most environmentally friendly dive watch on the market, this Panerai Submersible is made from 98.6% recycled material. It is designed with lightweight eco-titanium, and even its glow-in-the-dark inlay is reused. With this model, Panerai hopes to set the example for circular eco-conscious watchmaking that can apply to the whole industry.
