Explore Beautiful Region of Winnipesaukee Lake

Of the several lakes in the New Hampshire region, the most imposing is Lake Winnipesaukee. In the vicinity of the 186 square kilometer lake near the White Mountains, there are several entertainment options, ranging from shopping malls and exploring beautiful villages to amazing beaches. Visit the region in autumn, between the months of September and December, to admire the typical foliage of the season. In winter, between the months of December and March, enjoy ice fishing and skiing. In the spring, between the months of March and June, it is possible to taste maple sugar. Summer, from June to September, is a great time to practice water sports.

Where to go

There are more than 40 communities around the Lake Winnipesaukee , and some of key places are the waterslide and boardwalk at Weirs Beach, the stylish Wolfeboro croquet club and the beautiful houses, the home galleries and art works of the restored Meredith village and the old town center. Laconia, have fun on the Gilford zip line, in a shaker-style Canterbury village and on the Clouds estate Castle in the Moultonborough. Almost 150 kilometers of Lakes Region ride follows the lakeside passing through most cities in the region.

In the water

Dine on a cruise and discover why this is New England’s most picturesque lake. You can also rent a boat and visit the islands in the lake, where you can go picnicking and hiking. During summer, while the temperature of water is 20 to 26  C, you can enjoy swimming. Those who enjoy fishing will find several fish species in the waters of the region. In addition, this lake is a great destination for the whole family during the winter, when it is possible to practice fishing and sailing on the ice.

Land adventure

Nature and outdoor attractions are attractive all year round. Be sure to visit major nature reserves in the region – when the weather is favorable. Get to know a little on the fauna and flora regions at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. Take the opportunity to go to Ellacoya State Park, Gilford. Go for hiking and admire beautiful views of the lake from West Rattlesnake Mountains, Mount Major, Belknap Mountains, Red Hill or the Abenaki Tower. Whenever the snow begins to fall, you can enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing or ice skating. Among the best options for skiing are the resorts of Attitash, Loon and Gunstock.
